About Us
The High Altitude Hoop Retreat is a subsidiary of Mad About Hoops. It was created by friends and flowmies, Madison McBurney and Amy Neel. They have been manifesting their dreams into reality together since 2014. They created the award-winning hoop duo, The Hustletown Hoopers, and even performed for Super Bowl Live in Houston, Texas in 2017. Together, they co-own the nation’s largest hula hoop after-school program, Mad About Hoops. Through this program, they are able to inspire the next generation of flow artists and enrich the lives of thousands of children, and counting! Additionally, Mad About Hoops offers virtual classes, both live and pre-recorded, for hoopers of all ages and skill levels!
Madison and Amy are excited about this embark on a new chapter together as retreat coordinators, creating hula hoop retreats unlike any other. Their first event was postponed due to covid, but they quickly followed up by hosting an epic all-day online event while quarantined together. Finally, in August 2021 they were able to host an event two years in the making. The 2021 HAHR in Jamestown, CO was a sold-out, five-day all-inclusive, fully immersive and transformative experience for the mind, body, and soul. With the concept proven, they set their sights on Santa Fe. Their 2022 event proved to be just as magic and sold out in record time, largely due to returning guests. They are hard at work planning two weeks back to back weeks for the thrid year of #HAHR!
